After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, went to look at the tomb: There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.
The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.” —Matthew 28:1–6 NIV
“THE TOMB IS EMPTY—HE IS NOT THERE” !!!
I praise God that Jesus’ death is not the end of the story. That is the wonderful message of Easter. Jesus went to the Cross and died for our salvation and for our healing. His lifeless body was laid in a tomb, but that wasn’t the end of the story. After three days, He arose, a mighty victor over death, hell, and the grave. And because we are in Christ, we can share in that victory. “Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.” (John 14:19 NIV)
What does victory mean? One definition is: an achievement of mastery over a struggle. If this life is a struggle, then Jesus gave us the ability to achieve mastery over it. Isn’t that wonderful? Whatever this life can throw at us, if we are in Christ, we can overcome it.
